Privacy Policy

This policy explains how UPrint Global CC (“UPrint”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit uprintsoftware.com, contact us, or use UPrint RIP software. We are based in Durban, South Africa and sell worldwide.

We are the responsible party and data controller for the information described here. Questions go to support@uprintsoftware.com.

• What you type into the contact form or send us by email or WhatsApp: your name, email address, company, country, which printer you run, and your message.
• Your purchase details, collected by Polar when you buy in US dollars, or by Paystack when a South African business pays in Rand. For a Rand order we also keep what goes on your tax invoice: company, name, address, email and, if you give it, your VAT number. See section 5.
• Activation information, when you activate the software: the email address on the licence and a fingerprint of the computer it is activated on. The fingerprint exists so one licence runs on the two computers it allows. It is not a tracking identifier and we cannot read anything else on your machine with it.
• Downloads from our adverts. If you come to this site from one of our Google adverts and then download the free trial, we keep the internet (IP) address of the download, the advert’s click number and the time, for 90 days. When a free trial starts from the same internet address, we match the two, so we know which advert led to the trial. This happens only when Google Analytics and Google Ads are on for you (section 3).
• Security records, to protect the software from misuse. If someone tries many order codes that do not exist, or one order code is asked for on more computers than it allows, we keep the internet (IP) address, the computer fingerprint and the codes that were tried. If the software finds that one of its own program files has changed, gone missing or cannot be read, it sends us a short report: the computer fingerprint, the software version and edition, Windows or Mac, and the names of the files involved. A report never contains your designs, your files or anything else from your computer.

We do not ask for or store payment card numbers, identity numbers or passwords on this website.

Google Analytics and Google Ads. If you visit from the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a notice at the bottom of the page asks first. Nothing from Google loads, and no Google cookie is set, until you press Accept. If you press Decline, or ignore the notice, none of it loads. If you visit from anywhere else, we count your visit with Google Analytics and Google Ads from your first page, without a notice. Either way you can switch it off at any time with “Cookie choices” in the footer. We then stop counting you and remove the Google cookies we set.

When it is on, Google sets cookies and receives technical details of your visit, such as your browser and approximate location, and what you do on the site: the pages you view, the links you press, and whether you start or finish a purchase, download the free trial or send us a message. We use it to count visits and to see which pages and adverts work. We do not send Google your name, your email address or anything you type into a form. We also use it for remarketing: people who visited this site may see our adverts again on Google, YouTube and other websites. Switching it off with “Cookie choices” stops that too. Google’s privacy policy covers what Google does with the data it receives.

When a visit from one of our Google adverts leads to a free trial or a sale, we tell Google Ads that it happened. We send Google the advert’s click number, the time and a reference number of our own, not your name, your email or your internet address. For this, your browser keeps the advert’s click number for 30 days, and the free trial download link carries it to our download server. If you switch off with “Cookie choices”, your browser forgets it.

Apart from that, this website does not set tracking cookies of its own. Three other third parties may set cookies when you use their part of the service:

• Polar, when you open the checkout, so it can process the payment and prevent fraud. Paystack does the same when you pay in Rand.
• Netlify, our website host, for delivering pages and protecting the contact form from spam.
• YouTube, only if you press play on the film on the home page. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. The player then comes from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s own privacy policy covers what happens in it.

• To reply to your enquiry and send you a trial code if you asked for one.
• To issue, activate, renew and support your licence.
• To tell you about a new version of the software you own. We do this by email to the address on the licence.
• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
• To protect the software and our customers’ licences from misuse and copying. A security record is a reason for us to check. Nothing happens to your licence automatically because of one.
• To count visits and see which pages and adverts work: only if you accept, when you visit from the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and from your first page, until you switch it off, everywhere else.

We rely on your consent when you submit a form, and on performing our contract with you once you own a licence. Outside the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we count visits because we have a legitimate interest in knowing which pages and adverts work, and you can object at any time with “Cookie choices” in the footer. We do not sell your personal information. We keep security records because we have a legitimate interest in protecting our software and the licences our customers paid for.

• Polar Software, Inc. (polar.sh) is the merchant of record for every software sale in US dollars. Polar collects your payment and billing details directly, is the controller of that information for its own purposes, and issues your receipt and invoice. We receive the order and the email address to send the licence to, never your card number.
• Paystack (paystack.com) processes the card payment when a South African business pays UPrint Global CC in Rand. We receive the payment result and your email address, never your card number.
• Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) receives the visit data and the advert click numbers described in section 3: only if you accept, when you visit from the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and until you switch it off, everywhere else.
• Netlify hosts this website and receives contact form submissions.
• Our email provider handles the messages we send and receive.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We never sell your personal information.

Enquiries are kept while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Licence and activation records are kept for as long as the licence exists, because they are what lets us reissue it or move it to a new computer, and then for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Security records are kept for up to 180 days and then deleted. A try that does not raise an alarm is deleted after two days. The internet address of a free trial download that came from one of our adverts is deleted after 90 days. When information is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it.

Depending on where you live, including under South Africa’s POPIA and the UK and EU GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or update it.
• Ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent.
• Ask us to stop emailing you at any time.

To exercise any of these, email support@uprintsoftware.com. You can also complain to the Information Regulator in South Africa or to your own data protection authority. For anything Polar holds about your payment, contact Polar directly.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The site is served over HTTPS and licence activation runs over an encrypted connection. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

We sell worldwide. If you contact us or buy from outside South Africa, your information may be processed in South Africa and by our providers in other countries. We take steps to keep it protected wherever it is handled.

This software and this website are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We publish our own videos on our YouTube channel, UPrint Global. To upload them we use a small internal tool called UPrint Video Publisher, which uses YouTube API Services. Only our own staff use it, and it only signs in to our own channel. It is not offered to anyone else.

By using YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s Privacy Policy explains how Google handles your information.

What the tool reads: the name and ID of our own channel, so it can check it is posting to the right place, and the videos it has just uploaded, so it can check they arrived correctly.

What the tool sends: our own finished video, with its title, description, thumbnail and captions.

What the tool keeps: a Google sign-in token, and a short record of each upload (the video’s ID, title, web address and the date). Both stay on one computer in our office. The tool does not read, keep or share any information about viewers, subscribers or other channels, and it shares nothing with anyone.

Removing access: the owner of the Google account can remove the tool’s access at any time on the Google security settings page. When access is removed, we delete the sign-in token and any data the tool kept within 30 days, and usually the same day.
