New

Copy your old RIP's colour

Print our colour chart from the RIP you use now, to a file. UPrint reads that file and lays the same ink your old RIP did.

Why it matters

Changing RIP usually changes your colours, and customers notice. This keeps them the same from day one.

How it works

  1. 1Press Save the colour chart in UPrint.
  2. 2Print that chart from your old RIP, to a file.
  3. 3Press Copy my RIP's colour and pick the file. UPrint now lays the same ink your old RIP did.

AI upscale: Upscale in UPrint Design RIP

Left, a 160 px logo. Right, the same logo after Upscale 6x.

02DTF
AI · Studio RIP and Design RIP

AI upscale

A logo saved off a website or a phone is often too small to print well. Upscale makes it 2, 3, 4 or 6 times bigger with our own AI model, on your own PC, so the edges come out sharp.

Why it matters

Customers send tiny logos every day. Fix them in seconds instead of redrawing them or turning the job away.

How it works

  1. 1Select the picture and press Upscale (in Studio RIP: Upscale in Prepare).
  2. 2Pick 2x, 3x, 4x or 6x. The bar shows the new size in pixels.
  3. 3Press Upscale. The print gets sharper, not bigger.

In the app: Upscale

Your own ICC profile: Add a profile in UPrint Design RIP
03DTF

Your own ICC profile

Have a profile you trust for your ink and film? Add it and print with it: 6 pass or 8 pass on XP600 heads, and 12 pass on i1600 heads.

Why it matters

Use the colour you already trust, instead of starting again with a new RIP.

How it works

  1. 1In the Colour step, press Add a profile.
  2. 2Pick your .icc file.
  3. 3Print with it: 6 or 8 pass on XP600 heads, 12 pass on i1600 heads.

In the app: Add a profile

The real Design RIP: pick Palette in the Halftone bar, then drag the gold knob. Out for bigger dots, in for smaller. The gaps are holes, so the shirt shows through.

04DTF

Softer prints

Halftone turns solid areas into dots with tiny holes between them. Less ink and less white go down, so the print feels softer on the shirt.

Why it matters

Big solid areas of white and ink feel heavy on a shirt. Dots make the print lighter and softer.

How it works

  1. 1Open Halftone: on the Design canvas, or in Prepare in Studio RIP.
  2. 2Pick a style and a dot shape, and set the Detail to choose how big the dots are.
  3. 3Press Apply. The gaps between the dots are real holes, so the shirt shows through.

In the app: Halftone

AI background remover: Auto cut-out in UPrint Design RIP

Left, the design on its blue background. Right, after Auto cut-out.

05DTF
AI · Studio RIP and Design RIP

AI background remover

Press Auto cut-out and the AI finds the edge of the design and takes the background away, on your own PC. Only the design prints, with no box round it.

Why it matters

No coloured box round the design on the shirt, and no hour of cutting it out by hand in another program.

How it works

  1. 1Select the picture and press Remove background (in Studio RIP: AI cut-out in Prepare).
  2. 2Press Auto cut-out. The background is gone.
  3. 3Fix any edge by hand with Refine cut-out: Keep and Remove brushes.

In the app: Auto cut-out

White control: Amount, Where, Edge in UPrint Design RIP
06DTF

White control

Choose how much white prints, where it goes, and how far it pulls in from the edge so it stays hidden under the colour.

Why it matters

White is the most expensive ink. Use only what each job needs, with no white edge peeking out round the design.

How it works

  1. 1Set Amount: how strong the white is.
  2. 2Set Where: Everywhere, or Under colour only.
  3. 3Set Edge: pull the white in a few pixels so it stays hidden under the colour.

In the app: Amount, Where, Edge

Cost per job: Estimate cost in UPrint Design RIP
07DTF
New

Cost per job

UPrint counts every dot it prints, ink by ink and white included, then adds the film and the powder. No guessing from coverage.

Why it matters

Know what each transfer really costs before you quote, so every gang sheet makes money.

How it works

  1. 1Open Cost settings and type your ink, film and powder prices once.
  2. 2Press Estimate cost: ink for each colour, film, powder and the total, before anything prints.
  3. 3Every DTF job then shows its cost in the queue and in Job history, with each design's share.

In the app: Estimate cost

AI image generation: Generate in UPrint Design RIP

Made in the app: v1, Best, Bold vector.

08DTF
AI · Studio RIP and Design RIP

AI image generation

Describe the design, pick a print style such as Bold vector, and press Generate. The art lands in the app, ready to cut out, trace or print. It runs on your own OpenAI or Grok key: on OpenAI from about 1 US cent (Fast) to 17 US cents (Best) an image, paid to them, not to us.

Why it matters

A customer with no artwork is still a sale. Make the design with them, there and then.

How it works

  1. 1Open AI Image and type what you want in the box.
  2. 2Pick a print style, such as Bold vector, and Fast, Better or Best.
  3. 3Press Generate, then pick the picture to use it.

In the app: Generate

Fill the roll: Fill the roll in UPrint Design RIP
09DTF

Fill the roll

Put a logo on the sheet, press Fill the roll, and UPrint repeats it across and down the film.

Why it matters

Film costs money. A full roll means more transfers per metre.

How it works

  1. 1Switch the sheet from Page to Roll.
  2. 2Set the Length to Auto, or type it.
  3. 3Put a logo on and press Fill the roll. UPrint repeats it down the film.

In the app: Fill the roll

Set up from one print: Read your printer in UPrint Design RIP
10DTF

Set up from one print

No typing in printer settings. Print our test chart once, and UPrint learns your printer from that one file.

Why it matters

A new RIP usually means typing in ink channels, resolution and passes by hand, and one mistake prints the wrong colours. Here the printer tells UPrint itself.

How it works

  1. 1Press Save the test chart in UPrint.
  2. 2Print that chart from the program you use now, to a file.
  3. 3Press Read the print and pick the file: UPrint learns the ink order, resolution and passes.
  4. 4Under Ink order, move an ink if a nozzle row is blocked.

In the app: Read your printer

Trace to vector: Make Vector in UPrint Design RIP

A traced piece open in the node editor: every square is a node you can drag.

11DTF
Design RIP

Trace to vector

Press Make Vector and UPrint traces the picture into vector shapes you can edit, make any size and cut. You see the trace before you use it, and how much of the fine detail it kept.

Why it matters

Vectors print crisp at any size and can go to a cutter. No paying a designer to redraw a logo.

How it works

  1. 1Select the picture and press Make Vector.
  2. 2Pick Line art, Classic or Sharp, and knock out the paper behind it if you want.
  3. 3Compare in Slide, Side by side or Outline, then press Use this trace.

In the app: Make Vector

Mirror: Mirror in UPrint Design RIP
12DTF

Mirror

One switch flips the print, so the transfer reads the right way round once it is pressed on the shirt.

Why it matters

A transfer is pressed face down, so the print must be flipped. Forget it and the whole job is wasted.

How it works

  1. 1In the Job section, switch Mirror on.
  2. 2Print. The job goes to the film flipped.
  3. 3Press the transfer. It reads right on the shirt.

In the app: Mirror

Straight to PrintExp: Send to PrintExp in UPrint Design RIP
13DTF

Straight to PrintExp

Press print and the job goes straight to PrintExp on your Windows PC. No saving files, no dragging them across.

Why it matters

Fewer steps between the design and the printer means faster jobs and fewer mistakes.

How it works

  1. 1Pick DTF roll as the printer.
  2. 2Switch on Send each job to PrintExp.
  3. 3Press Print. The job lands in PrintExp on this PC.

Jordan, the creator of UPrint Studio RIP and Design RIP

From the founder

Hi, I'm Jordan, the creator of UPrint Studio RIP and Design RIP.

I grew up in my father's print factories from the age of five, and I have worked in print since I was 16. I know the pain print shops feel every day: one program to fix the artwork, another to design, and a RIP to print it.

So I built one app that does it all. You get the artwork ready with AI help (cut-outs, upscaling, vector tracing), design it, and print it to your DTF, white toner or sublimation printer, all in one window. With Design RIP you no longer need CorelDRAW or Illustrator for your everyday print jobs.
